[Team Mopar News] Cindi Lux Scores Podium Finish with Viper at Rose Cup

Cindi Lux recently finished third aboard her Mopar-powered Dodge Viper Competition Coupe in the 51st Annual Rose Cup at Portland (Ore.) International Raceway with the SCCA, making history as the first women to finish on the podium of the historic event at the scenic road course in the Pacific Northwest, which is her home track.

Lux, whose father Dick Hahn won the inaugural Rose Cup in 1961, started fifth in the 45-minute timed event with Mopar livery on her Viper and steadily worked her way forward. She fought her way into third-place, before a full course caution bunched the field on lap-20. She would hold off a couple of late race charges from other drivers to earn her best career Rose Cup finish.

"I don't think I could have driven my Viper Competition Coupe any harder in this race," said Lux. "I asked 110 percent of out of the race car for 45 minutes and she held up like a champ. I cannot speak enough about the quality prep that comes from our guys on the Lux Performance team. They gave me the best race car I have driven in a long time, it was on rails. Finishing third is respectable, but only gets me fired-up to climb the final two steps in future years."

Lux was a former winner in support division events at the Rose Cup, but had never finished higher than fourth in the headline event. The 12-time road racing champion, battled unrestricted, higher horsepower Trans-am style cars. Lux has over 75 career road racing wins across a number of different series and sanctions, in addition to winning the inaugural American Le Mans Series Women’s Global GT Series championship in 1999, and being named the 1999 SCCA Pro Driver of the Year.
