Jim Jonsin - Texas Race Report

Well, as I entered the gates of Texas World Speedway it felt like we were driving back though time; the long hot race days of  this track were visible thru the cracks and holes in the concrete paddock. The Speedway sign looked like it could use a fresh coat of paint, but it was these characteristics of this place that made this particular race weekend so intense for me.

My weekend started off slow in the Dodge Viper ACR-X, not because the car was slow or the Lux performance team didn't have the car completely dialed in, but because I wasn't prepared for what was in store for  me.  When I got behind the wheel of the Viper ACR-X I had no idea how much power and torque these cars had! After my first practice stint, I was a bit intimidated to say the least, oh and did I mention the bumpy, scary fast, slender banked turns?  This track is as bumpy as Sebring. But  with the help of Cindi and her crew at Lux Performance coaching me along I was able to get comfortable enough to finish 7th out of 12 cars on Sunday's race.  I was truly impressed with the open atmosphere and friendships within the viper racing community.

I would like to personally thank everybody who had a part in helping me get behind the wheel of this great race car. And the one particular corner worker who’s flag station I ran into. :( Sorry buddy, I owe you a cold Beer.

Sincerely,

Jim Jonsin
