Hard to believe we have completed 75% of our '05 season. The entire team was really looking forward to heading back to the June Sprints to defend our title and then head further back east to try out Watkins Glen. These are two of the coolest tracks in the country. But as most of you know, these two races didn't exactly go according to plan. Some really unprofessional and downright stupid driving by some other drivers really put some damage on our cars at the Sprints. Ryan got the worst of it. Scotty had to soldier on during the race and brought home our team a Top 5 finish.
The race at the Glen was also tough. Being only two weeks after the Sprints accident, my ribs were not even close for me to climb back into my car so I had to sit this one out. This really sucked!! I have never missed a race like this and it was a hard one to swallow. So I focused my attention to help out Scotty and Ryan for the weekend.
Boy, Ryan cannot buy any luck this year! He got tagged AGAIN during the race by another T2 competitor and got put out of the race. Scotty drove his heart out in the Viper SRT10 but the current rules having us run a 40% restrictor and 300 pounds heavier, he just plain got his ass kicked in this race. There's no other nice way to say it. Over 5 seconds slower than the front-running Corvettes during the race. It's a sad sight to see when the cars come out on the front straigh and the Corvettes just pull out and drive around the Vipers! Three years ago, it was a different story!
For some strange reason, SCCA is scared to death to let the Vipers run competitively in T1. Wonder why they want it to be such a Corvette parade?? Who knows.
We have three events remaining for '05. Laguna is next in a couple of weeks and I am just excited to get back in the cockpit of the 78 car! Ryan will be unfortunately sitting this one out, but not only will Scotty be running his T1 car, but also his SSB car. You know, we give Scotty a hard time with his "B" car, but it's fun to watch him peddle that beast around the track. I know when he climbs out of that car ... he is all smiles!
Thanks for tuning in everybody. We will keep you posted on the upcoming Runoffs.
