Never been a good qualifier but I was going to change that today. I don't know what my problem is but I never seem to whip out that fast lap. But that is one of my goals for this year in racing.

So, I was going to attack it in a different way today. And I did.

The first qualifying session out, I just went out and hammered it. From half way into the session, Fred let me know it was me and Divina running very close. Every lap we improved our times. It was a game of cat and mouse. At the end of the first session, she was 0.1 quicker than me. Its an improvement but not where I want to be.

The second session didn't go as planned. Got caught up in traffic and then the track conditions for my car went away! It was like rallying out there. Getting crossed up on the high banked oval is NOT something I would encourage any racer to experience! Lets just say, I had "a moment" on the track.

Anyway, we ended up second in qualifying. My good OLE buddy Divina did manage to improve her time with a banzai run which resulted in some damage from the chicane!

So today, I start from the outside pole position. The layout in Charlotte is not good for the outside people in line. You take the green flag and turn left. Should prove to be fun.

I have also been asked to me the Grand Marshal for today's WGGT race. Being last year's Champion, they thought it would be an honor. It should be fun saying those magical words...."racers, start your engines."
