Today was our last day of practice and qualifying. I am so sorry that I wasn't able to write personally yesterday of after all the happenings at the track. Yesterday was a day so hectic that it is hard to describe!! I went out in the Porsche three times and then we had night practice.
Every time we hit the track, all three of us are getting faster and faster. But we are still talking in seconds, not in tenths!! So that tells you how far off the pace we still are!! It's very humbling right now but I have learned as much in the last three days as I have in my entire life about driving a racecar.
The team is awesome to be working with. Cole and his entire professional team are the best. Believe me we have made some typical "rookie" mistakes that makes you feel really stupid. But we have to go through the learning curve.
The car is incredible to drive. There are no words available to describe the feeling. We went out in qualifying this afternoon and improved our times by over a second from this morning. And that was only after 4 laps. Remember, we have to start the race on the tires that we qualify on, so minimal laps on the tires is a good thing.
Tomorrow morning is the warm-up and I will be driving the car for that. We will probably only be doing a few laps just to shake down the car. And then.... the race! I am very excited for it to get underway. I just want to make a good showing and finish the race. My biggest fear is being taken out by one of the prototypes!!
Well, its time to hit the hay. I hope all is well with everybody out there. And thank you so much for taking the time to check in on my activities. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for this one!!
