The 41st Rose Cup Races lived up to everything you would expect. Wild weather and racing. Had a super busy weekend driving 2 different cars, a BMW in RS class and a Corvette in T1. Both were a hoot to drive.
This was the debut of our new sponsor, McCormack Manufacturing of Portland. Several of the their employees and guests came out to cheer us on.
Ended up finishing 3rd in the BMW on Saturday late afternoon. This race was the Festival Race which started 52 cars. Traffic was intense but I loved every minute. What we lacked on horsepower, we definitely made up in handling. This car was on rails around the corners! It was a kick ass car to drive!
Qualified the T1 Corvette on the pole for Sunday's race. Had a fun nose to tail battle with another Corvette the entire race. Coming out of the last corner as the checkered flag was waving, I got a better run off the corner than the leader. We were almost side by side at the start/finish line. The official reports had me finishing in 2nd place by .082 seconds, which is about 3 feet. What fun!
Driving one of Scotty White's hotrod was a lot of fun. We learned a lot about the car and the team. The real race is next weekend at the G.I. Joe's CART Race in Portland. Now that we have qualified for that race, the real fun starts now. Scotty has a real good chance of winning the race overall in the ITE ex-world challenge car. That is one beautiful race car. We are hoping for a top-10 finish in our T1 car.
Thanks for tuning in. Will keep you posted.
